Botox is a purified form of the botulinum toxin that is obtained from bacteria. The tiny, regulated amount of Botox given to correct wrinkles has been used safely for decades.
Millions of Botox and filler procedures are performed each year, and they have a good track record of safety. Side effects occurred in less than 1 percent of recipients, and most of these were minor.
Botox works by blocking nerve signals in the muscles where it is injected. The affected muscle is temporarily paralysed or frozen. Without movement of these selected muscles in the face, certain wrinkles may be softened, reduced, or even removed.
Botox helps reduce or eliminate wrinkles, such as crow’s feet around the eyes and horizontal lines on the forehead. Most people find that the muscle-relaxing effect of Botox lasts for 3 to 4 months
HOW WILL MY BOTOX PROCEDURE BE CARRIED OUT?
The procedure only takes a few minutes and doesn’t require anaesthesia. We inject the Botox with a fine needle into specific muscles with only minor discomfort. It generally takes three to seven days to take full effect, and it is best to avoid alcohol starting at least one week before the procedure. You should also stop taking aspirin and anti-inflammatory medications two weeks before treatment to reduce bruising.
HOW LONG DOES A BOTOX LAST?
The effects from Botox will last three to four months. As muscle action gradually returns, the lines and wrinkles begin to reappear and need to be treated again. The lines and wrinkles often appear less severe with time because the muscles are being trained to relax.

WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF BOTOX?
Temporary bruising is the most common side effect of Botox. Headaches, which end in 24 to 48 hours, can happen, but this is rare. Always consult with us at Mill Cottage first.
WHO IS NOT SUITABLE FOR BOTOX?
If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, under 18, or have a neurological disease you should not use Botox. Since Botox doesn’t work for all wrinkles, you should consult our qualified practitioners at Mill Cottage Aesthetics.
WHAT CAN BOTOX CORRECT?
Botox will not work on fine lines and wrinkles caused by sagging or loss of plumpness in the face. These are known as static wrinkles. Static wrinkles include lines in the cheeks, neck, and jowl areas.
Botox is not a permanent treatment. Repeated treatments are necessary for continued wrinkle-reducing effects.

Dermal fillers are an alternative injectable treatment. Rather than relaxing the muscles, fillers work to add volume into deep lines, such as the nose to mouth or forehead lines.
